Access decides this more than capacity does. An 8m3 is four metres long. A 10m3 is longer again and may arrive on a hook lift truck that needs a straight run to roll the bin off. Measure the driveway and check for power lines before you book, because a bin that cannot be placed is a wasted delivery for both of us.

Asbestos is the one to be careful about. If you are stripping a wet area or a ceiling in anything built before the late 1980s, stop and get it tested before it goes anywhere near a skip. Putting asbestos in a general bin is an offence and it is expensive for everyone involved.

What is the biggest skip bin available?
We run up to 10m3 for most jobs, which is nine to ten trailer loads or well over a hundred wheelbarrows. Larger hook lift bins exist in the market for construction work.
How much room do I need for a large skip?
An 8m3 is around four metres long and a 10m3 is over four metres, plus working room for the truck and about three metres of overhead clearance. Measure the flat run before you book.
Should I put concrete in a large bin?
No. Nobody fills a 10m3 with concrete because it would be far over the weight allowance long before it was full. Dense material goes in a smaller bin, swapped more often.
What is the difference between marrel and hook lift at this size?
A marrel bin is lifted by hydraulic arms and takes about one car space. A hook lift bin rolls off the truck, is wider, and needs a longer straight approach. Hook bins usually have a rear door a bobcat can drive into.
Can a large bin go on the street?
In most councils yes, with a permit, but size limits apply. Inner West pushes anything over 5m by 1.8m into a full road occupancy application, and City of Sydney's free exemption caps at 3.4m by 1.7m.
